Nonfiction Editing

Nonfiction Editing

We provide stylistic editing for nonfiction book projects. A stylistic edit is also sometimes called a line edit or a content edit. This kind of edit reviews the style, tone, argument, and overall voice of the text. Our edit usually also includes elements of copyediting and checks for grammar, usage, consistency, and other stylistic standards, but these are discussed with each client to determine their specific needs. The ultimate goal in every project is to make the author’s message and voice as clear and powerful as possible.

Our nonfiction editing projects focus on books or other long form pieces, and we work in close collaboration with each author. A project will start with a consultation with the author to learn about their goals and vision for their project, and also to evaluate the current status of the text, establish timelines, and set expectations. Since these projects are unique to each author and topic, there is no one-size-fits-all program, and each project is tailored to the author’s needs. We highly value the collaborative and supportive relationship we build with our authors.
